Question 8

When our master Adam (a) plucked from the tree, did what he plucked affect or alter a link that was among this tree’s functions? Alaa Razzaq 13 Rabi al-Awwal 1426 AH

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. The tree is the tree of the knowledge of the family of Muhammad (a). The tree itself was not affected, but Adam (a) did not benefit from it because he had not been given permission to take from it. The Exalted said: ‘We had already taken a covenant from Adam before, but he forgot, and We found in him no firm resolve’ ([5]). Rather, he was harmed, and this harm extended to some of his descendants: ‘And when We said to the angels, “Prostrate yourselves before Adam,” they prostrated, except Iblis; he refused’ ([6]).
