Question 167

If an hour and a half has passed in winter after performing the noon prayer, may I perform the recommended afternoon prayers before the afternoon prayer? What intention should I make-should it be performance on time, or something else? Sheikh Jihad al-Asadi-Basra

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. It is better to give precedence to the obligatory prayer if the time for the recommended prayer has passed, and then perform the recommended prayer afterward with the intention of performance on time. Sayyid Ahmed Alhasan Vicegerent and Messenger of Imam al-Mahdi (a)
