Question 190
May a man marry his maternal aunt when she is his mother’s sister through their father only, not through their mother? Likewise, may a maternal uncle marry his sister’s daughter when he and the sister share only a father? This occurs in our regions, my master and vicegerent (a). May Allah the Exalted support you with His support.
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. A maternal aunt is among the unmarriageable kin whether she is the mother’s sister through her mother, her father, or both. The same applies to a maternal uncle. Sayyid Ahmed Alhasan Vicegerent and Messenger of Imam al-Mahdi (a)
