Question 238

I read in The Allegories about al-Jamia, al-Jafr, and the Book of Fatima. What are these? Sender: At Your Service, My Master - United Arab Emirates

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. The Imams explained what al-Jamia ([76]), al-Jafr, and the Book of Fatima ([77]) are. I added comments and further clarification in answers to some questions ([78]). So please read the hadiths and what I wrote with contemplation, then afterward ask me whatever occurs to you. Ahmed Alhasan

↑ [76] Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated in Basair al-Darajat a chapter concerning the Imams: they possess the comprehensive scroll, dictated by the Messenger of Allah and written by Ali's hand (a), seventy cubits long. Basair al-Darajat: p. 162. Al-Kulayni narrated from Abu Shaybah: I heard Abu Abdullah (a) say: “Ibn Shubrumah's knowledge is lost beside al-Jamiah, dictated by the Messenger of Allah (s) and written by Ali's hand (a). Al-Jamiah leaves no one anything to say: in it is knowledge of the lawful and forbidden. The people of analogy sought knowledge through analogy and only grew farther from truth. Allah's religion is not attained through analogy.” Al-Kafi: vol. 1, p. 57.

↑ [77] Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated a chapter concerning the Imams (a), that they were given al-Jafr, al-Jamiah, and Fatimah's codex (a). He included several narrations; I transmit one for brevity. He said: Ahmad ibn Muhammad narrated to us, from Ali ibn al-Hakam, from al-Husayn ibn Abi al-Ala: I heard Abu Abdullah (a) say: “I possess the white Jafr.” We said: “What is in it?” He said to me: “David's Psalms, Moses's Torah, Jesus's Gospel, Abraham's scrolls, the lawful and forbidden, and Fatimah's codex. I do not claim that it contains Quran. It contains what people need us for, while we need no one, including the lash, half a lash, a third and a quarter of a lash, and compensation for a scratch. I possess the red Jafr-and what do they know of al-Jafr?” We said: “May I be your ransom, what is in the red Jafr?” He said: “Weapons. It is opened for blood; the bearer of the sword opens it for killing.” Abdullah ibn Abi Yafur said: “May Allah set you right, do al-Hasan's descendants know this?” He said: “Yes, by Allah, as night is known to be night and day to be day. But envy and seeking this world drive them. Had they sought truth, it would have been better for them.” Basair al-Darajat: p. 170.
