Question 273

Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. I am searching for the truth-specifically, for the saved sect-and Allah is the best helper. What happened in Basra, Nasiriyah, and some regions was difficult to believe in view of its outcome and the events to which matters led, which you know better than I do. I ask you to clarify the wisdom behind what happened. Is it true that your followers were promised victory by you? And in what direction are you proceeding in the path your own hands have laid out, as I had previously learned of it? Please send me the answer and everything new, with my sincere thanks for the clarification. I am searching for the truth and following matters closely. Please do not withhold anything new from me. Allah is the guardian of success, and to Him belong praise and thanks for His granting of success. Sender: Hasan al-Musawi - Iraq

Supporters Response:

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Intensely Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send His prayers upon Muhammad and the good, pure members of his household and grant them abundant peace. Brother Hasan al-Musawi, peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Its wisdom is like the wisdom in what happened at al-Taff, like the wisdom in what happened to all those who brought divine calls-their displacement, the killing of their followers, the attempts to kill them, the mockery of them, and so on-and like the wisdom in what happened to the Messenger of Allah at the beginning of his call and in the torture and killing of his followers. It is like the wisdom in the Battle of Uhud and many other matters whose explanation would be lengthy. But here is the following verse; perhaps it will explain what you seek: “Or did you suppose that you would enter Paradise while there had not yet come upon you the like of those who passed before you? Misery and adversity touched them, and they were shaken until the Messenger and those who believed with him said, ‘When is Allah’s victory?’ Indeed, Allah’s victory is near” ([143]). “Or did you suppose that you would enter Paradise while Allah had not yet made known those among you who strove and made known the steadfast?” ([144]). “Or did you suppose that you would be left while Allah had not yet made known those among you who strove and did not take, besides Allah, His Messenger, and the believers, any confidant? And Allah is fully aware of what you do” ([145]). “Did the people suppose that they would be left to say, ‘We believe,’ while they would not be tested?” ([146]). “And among the people is one who says, ‘We believe in Allah,’ but when he is harmed for Allah’s sake, he regards the people’s persecution as Allah’s punishment. Yet if victory comes from your Lord, they will surely say, ‘Indeed, we were with you.’ Is Allah not most knowing of what is within the breasts of all beings?” ([147]). Thus it is a trial and a test for all people, both those who believe and those who disbelieve. As for your question, the Sayyed Yamani has never, on any day, set for any of us a date for victory. But Allah, Glorious and Most High, the Messenger (s), his Ahl al-Bayt (a), and the Yamani (a) have certainly promised us victory. As for the time, no one has set it. As for the direction of the path, here is the answer of the Sayyed Yamani: The promised Yamani, Sayyed Ahmad al-Hasan, says: “My call is like the call of Noah (a), the call of Abraham (a), the call of Moses (a), the call of Jesus (a), and the call of Muhammad (s): that monotheism spread over every part of this earth. The goal of the prophets and successors is my goal. I explain the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran, and that over which you differ. I expose the deviation of the scholars of the Jews, Christians, and Muslims, their departure from the divine law, and their opposition to the commandments of the prophets (a). “My will is the will of Allah, Glorious and Most High, and His will: that the people of the earth desire only what Allah, Glorious and Most High, desires; that the earth be filled with equity and justice as it has been filled with oppression and tyranny; that the hungry be fed and no poor person remain in the open; that the orphans rejoice after their long sorrow; that the widows find what meets their material needs with dignity and honor … that … and that … and that the most important things in the law-justice, mercy, and truthfulness-be applied” ([148]).
