Question 459
Peace and the mercy of Allah be upon you. Honorable Shaykh, after the Islamic greeting: I have heard much about you. I am a student of knowledge approaching forty-five years of age, and I have a request of you that I ask Allah, the Most High, the All-Powerful, to let me attain: a protective charm or supplication that you assign specifically to me, provided that this litany belongs to your eminence and not to any other shaykh or Imam. I have spent more than twenty years of my life in the sciences of the People of the House, the guardians, and the righteous, but until now I have not attained what I seek. It is for Allah to direct to the path. Sender: Amjad al-Najjar - Egypt
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. May Allah grant you success in every good. How can you arrive without finding the path? If you wish to know the path that brings you to the destination as soon as you set your foot upon it, remember Allah sincerely with this remembrance over three days, if possible, or fewer: Recite Surat al-Nur seventy times, and say, ‘The All-Knowing, the All-Aware informed me,’ ten thousand times without sleeping or interrupting it. May Allah grant you sincerity so that Allah makes the path known to you. If you know the path, you will find that you have reached what you seek. May Allah grant you success. Beware of facing Allah and asking Him for guidance only with the tongue. You must divest yourself of every prior understanding that you did not receive from Allah or from His guardians to whom He, Glorious and Exalted, directed you. Stand before Him without preconceived ideas and judgments, just as He, Glorious is He, taught you to shave the hair of your head when you turn toward His House. Hair in the Kingdom symbolizes ideas and what is in a person’s mind. Divest yourself of every preconceived idea and judgment. Turn sincerely toward Allah, and you will find that you have recognized the path, placed your foot upon it, and arrived by Allah’s favor upon you. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
