Question 461

Peace be upon you, my master and guardian. At the outset, I am sorry for occupying you with my private problems, but Allah knows how much pain this matter causes me. My problem, my master, is that whenever I want to marry and find a suitable wife, obstacles arise and ruin the marriage. In some matters I am even embarrassed before the supporters because of this issue and blame falls upon me, but I do not know why this happens to me. Sometimes I find a suitable wife but the result of seeking divine counsel is not good, or the counsel is good but she is not suitable as a wife for me, or my family refuses. Or when I make an effort, obstacles arise. I am confused by this matter and do not know what to do. I am a young man and desire marriage, yet this matter has never left me, even before I entered the blessed Call. I am in this condition as though a curse follows me, sorcery has been done to me, or something similar. I even proposed to someone outside the supporters-my paternal cousin-but they refused to marry her to me because I am among the supporters. There is much, much more. Now I fear approaching any woman because I fear the outcome and do not wish to hurt her feelings. Through this message, I hope to know what is happening to me. The second matter is that a supporter sister has found a supporter woman for me, and I am uncertain whether I should propose to marry her. What is your opinion, my father? Allow me to call you that, because I find no other father for me. All I want from you is that you guide me concerning what I should do. I am sorry for being lengthy. May you be in Allah’s safety and care. May Allah grant relief to you and the family of Muhammad (a). Amen. Sender: Physics - Iraq

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. I ask Allah to grant you success in every good. Before you proceed toward marriage, perform two units of prayer and call upon Allah to facilitate for you a righteous woman who safeguards you, assists you in your journey toward Allah and the truth, and helps you remain steadfast upon the difficult path. It is better if this prayer of yours is at the shrine of Imam al-Husayn (a), and that you make al-Husayn (a) your intercessor with Allah, Glorious and Exalted. Then, after Allah by His favor facilitates a righteous woman for you, perform two units of prayer in gratitude to Allah after the marriage contract. Supplicate after them, for supplication at the marriage contract is answered by Allah’s permission. May Allah grant you success in every good and provide you the good of the Hereafter and this world.
