Question 466

Peace be upon you, O Proof of Allah and son of His Proof. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the good and pure Imams and Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you, O People of the House of Prophethood, repository of the message, destination of the angels, and location of wisdom. Peace be upon Allah’s fortified refuge, His straight path, and the bridge of passage to the courtyard of His holiness, O Riser of the family of Muhammad, O teacher of Moses, likeness of Jesus, and shield of the prophets. Peace be upon you, O righteous servant, O Proof of Allah, son of His Proof, and father of His proofs. Through you I seek refuge and protection, O refuge, shelter, and mercy, O Yamani of the family of Muhammad. Peace and the mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you. My master, we await with intense impatience and upon burning coals the day when the dawn of the state of divine justice rises through your blessed emergence-the day for which the prophets prepared and which the guardians and righteous have awaited from the prophethood of Adam (a) until today. We ask Allah by your right to show us the day when you ascend the pulpit of Kufa to address all humanity. May Allah make me among your servants by the right of the family of Muhammad. This is a tremendous grace and great favor of which I am not worthy, but through the blessing of your supplication for a lowly, weak servant like me, I may attain it by His permission, Glorious is He. My master and son of my master, within my heart is tremendous yearning and longing for you. I find no suitable words to express what moves within my breast, but Allah, Glorious is He, knows. Were I not afraid of being lengthy and burdening you, O Proof of Allah, I would never stop writing. But my master, O Yamani of the family of Muhammad-may Allah’s prayers be upon you-I have questions no one like you can answer. You are the People of the House, and you may answer or withhold according to need and interest. You, my master, have more right over me than I do over myself. First: I ask you by the right of the patient one of immense patience, who has been patient for more than one thousand one hundred and fifty years-may Allah’s prayers be upon him-to supplicate to Allah that I be one who supports you when you emerge, bearing arms to defend you and fighting to establish the state of divine justice. I know that a supplication of yours is not rejected. I-and I seek refuge in Allah from the ‘I’-do not deserve this except through His mercy and favor, Glorious is He, while you are noble and people of excellence-all excellence. Second: O repository of Allah’s knowledge, O one who taught prophets of firm resolve, I ask you to teach me that which will lead me through the beauties of divine character and make some realities known to me, so that I may hasten my steps toward Him, Glorious is He. One who seeks refuge with you and asks from you, O masters of creation, is not disappointed. Third: My question concerns the will of the Messenger of Allah (s) on the night of his death, which we cite as proof of your right. Where was it when your forefather Abu Abdullah al-Husayn-may Allah’s prayers be upon him-went out to Karbala? Some reports from your forefathers (a) say there was a will al-Husayn-may Allah’s prayers be upon him-entrusted to Umm Salamah-may Allah be pleased with her-and wills he entrusted to Fatimah al-Kubra-peace be upon her-on the Day of al-Taff. Where was the sacred will of the Messenger of Allah Muhammad (s) when Imam al-Husayn-may Allah’s prayers be upon him-went out to Karbala? Fourth: It is narrated from your forefathers-may Allah’s prayers be upon them-that they said: ‘When the Sufyani appears, the Mahdi will disappear, then emerge after that.’ My master, O son of the Messenger of Allah (s), does ‘appears’ concerning the Sufyani here bear the meaning of predominance, as in His words, the Exalted, ‘that He may make it prevail over all religion’ ([54])? The period representing the beginning of your occultation and the people’s bewilderment, my master, which your forefather the Messenger of Allah (s) and your forefather the Commander of the Believers-may Allah’s prayers be upon him-foretold, is precisely the period of his appearance and his gaining power over every political current competing with him for a dominion Allah assigned only to its people. They followed the traces of the enemies of the prophets (a); indeed, they exceeded them, such that the earth has known no people more evil than they. My question is: Can ‘when the Sufyani appears’ in the report be used as evidence to identify the first Sufyani as …? Fifth: O Proof of Allah upon His earth, this passage occurs in the sacred will of the Messenger of Allah (s) to the Commander of the Believers (a) on the night of his death: ‘O Ali, you are my successor over my household, living and dead, and over my wives. Whoever you affirm will meet me tomorrow, and whoever you divorce, I disavow her. She will not see me and I will not see her in the courtyard of the Resurrection.’ My question is: Was the woman who went out against the Commander of the Believers (a) divorced? In conclusion, my master, I ask Allah, Glorious is He, to establish you upon the earth, hasten the day of your emergence, ease the affair for you, and accept me among your servants through the blessing of your supplication for me. What a tremendous day it will be when we see the Riser of the family of Muhammad, Ahmed Alhasan-may Allah’s prayers be upon him-addressing the world from the mosque of Kufa. You have more right over me than I do over myself; may I be your ransom. My master, forgive me, O son of the Messenger of Allah (s); forgive me, O son of Ali ibn Abi Talib (a); forgive me, O son of Imam al-Mahdi (a), for my shortcomings concerning your right. By Allah, I fall short concerning your right and ask pardon and forgiveness from you. You are the people of generosity, O best of Allah’s creation, Glorious is He. Note: I ask my brothers, the supporters of Allah-may Allah make me your servant-to deliver this message to Imam Ahmed Alhasan-may Allah’s prayers be upon him. Sender: Ziyad - Finland

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. May Allah grant you success in every good, direct your steps toward that which contains the good of the Hereafter and this world, make you among those through whom Allah grants victory to His religion, and gather us with you through His grace and favor in this world and the Hereafter. I ask Allah to save you from what is coming and to grant you a truthful standing with Allah alongside al-Husayn (a) and the companions of al-Husayn (a) in every age. Allah willing, through your faith you have attained all good. Only help us against your own selves and desires-may Allah have mercy upon you-for the gates of heaven are open, so do not be distracted from them. May Allah grant you success. As for what is mentioned in the narrations or what appears in external reality, may Allah have mercy upon you: if I know that explaining a matter will benefit you, Allah willing, I will explain it at its proper time. I ask Allah to save you from Allah’s punishment and grant you success in supporting the truth. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Ahmed Alhasan Rabi al-Awwal 1431 AH
