Question 552

Peace be upon you. My master, my guardian, and the crown of my head, Ahmed Alhasan-may the best prayers, peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you, my guardian. May Allah hasten your relief, multiply your supporters, and curse all your enemies from among the jinn and humankind, and may He make me your lowly, poor servant who fights before you and is martyred beneath your feet. My master, my question, guardian, concerns wine-may Allah honor you above it. Was it lawful before Islam and during the time of Islam, and was it then forbidden afterward, as the noble verse says: I seek refuge in Allah from the evil of Satan, the accursed, the outcast. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful: ‘Do not approach prayer while you are intoxicated’ ([74]). Allah, the Most High, the Magnificent, has spoken the truth. May Allah’s prayers be upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and upon Ahmed Alhasan and the Mahdis, and may He grant them abundant peace. In Allah’s safety, care, and protection, my guardian Ahmed-may the best prayers and peace be upon you, my master. Your lowly servant and bondsman. Sender: Maytham al-Tammar - Spain

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. Intoxicating wine has never been lawful in Allah’s religion since Allah created Adam (a). This verse has no connection to the lawfulness of intoxicating wine. Rather, it prohibits prayer until the person is alert and understands what he is saying, and one who is overcome by drowsiness is included within this verse. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Ahmed Alhasan Mid-Shaban / 1431 AH
