Question 575
Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Peace be upon you, my master and guardian, Yamani of the family of Muhammad. O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. My master and guardian, I thank you for graciously responding to my questions, and I ask you to increase me from your overflowing knowledge, O delight of the eye of al-Zahra. 1. My master, is it possible to call people to you while practicing taqiyya-that is, to deny before people that we are your followers while calling them to your matter by way of reminding and informing them? 2. My master, in John’s vision, the twenty-four elders prostrate before the slain Lamb. How does the First Mahdi prostrate before the Lamb when the Lamb is also the First Mahdi, and both are you? What is the meaning of this prostration? How, perhaps, do we resolve the apparent contradiction? 3. My master, is it permissible to take a loan from state banks, and are their funds lawful for us, given that they are mixed with the funds of the state, the Nasibis, and others? 4. My master, would you tell me of a matter that brings me closer to you and to Allah? Am I mentioned among your Supporters or foretold among them? I seek refuge in Allah from the word ‘I.’ Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. I ask your pardon if I have disturbed Your Eminence, my guardian, O son of the Messenger of Allah. Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. A to Q1: Yes, it is possible-may Allah grant you success-for one who is compelled to practice taqiyya. A to Q2: I previously explained the meaning of the Messenger and the Imams (a) prostrating before the Mahdi, and you will also find it in the book The Interpretation of Surat al-Tawhid-may Allah grant you success. As for John’s vision, it is a vision expressed in symbols. A to Q3: May Allah grant you success. An interest-bearing loan is forbidden and may not be taken. But if the loan does not bear interest, there is no problem with it. There is no usury between a believer and a Nasibi. You must therefore identify the bank and the owner of the bank and determine whether he displays hostility toward the Imams, the Mahdis, or their Shia; whether he is an unbeliever; or whether he is a Muslim or a believer. On the basis of this identification, you may or may not take the interest-bearing loan. A to Q4: May Allah grant you success. This world is a world of trial, so do not feel secure until your life is sealed with goodness and with your religion-the religion that Allah loves and with which He is pleased-intact.
