Question 577

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. My master and guardian, O Yamani and Riser of the family of Muhammad (a), may Allah’s peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you. I stand in your presence, my master, with a broken heart and an eye brimming with tears to offer you condolences for the martyrdom of your mother, the pure Virgin Fatima al-Zahra-may thousands of greetings of peace from Allah be upon her. I offer continuing condolences to my master and guardian, your father al-Hujjah ibn al-Hasan-may Allah’s peace be upon him-and to your good and pure forefathers-may Allah’s peace be upon them all. I beseech Allah to hasten relief for you, establish you upon His earth, and grant you victory over your enemy and His enemy. Indeed, Allah is All-Hearing and answers supplications. My master, my guardian, and my father, O Yamani and Riser of the family of Muhammad (a), I still crawl within your courtyard and drink deeply from your love. I wrote letters to you and then folded them away, wavering between fear and shame: the shame of a fugitive servant, blackened of face and submerged in the defilement of his own soul through my injustice and darkness, before all purity and light, as though it were impossible; and the fear that this might be estrangement and a lack of proper reserve. Between that fear and this shame, these bashful letters have now come to knock upon your door. So I ask you, my master, do not turn them away. You are a generous one, the son of generous ones, and you do not turn away a petitioner at your door. My master, my guardian, my father, and my beloved, since the apparition of your light dawned, you graciously consented to my standing in your service. Allah willing, I will remain a servant at your threshold. It is you who brought him to life and fed him with your hand, so bestow upon your destitute one whatever you will from your generosity: ‘And be charitable to us; indeed, Allah rewards the charitable.’ Praise be to Allah alone, who favored us with you and, without our deserving it, granted us knowledge of you and the ability to support you-if you accept me. Your young son and negligent servant. Sender: Abu Mahdi - the lands of exile

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. I ask Allah to grant you success, make you steadfast, and grant you a mighty victory. He is my Guardian, and He takes the righteous into His guardianship. May Allah grant you success. You have become good and pure through allegiance to Allah and His friends and through obedience to Allah and His friends. I ask Allah to seal your lives with the good of the Hereafter and this world and to grant you ease in your affair. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
