Question 729

A sister of ours who is a supporter asked me to pose a question concerning her husband. She and her children believe in Imam Ahmed Alhasan (a), while her husband does not believe in him. During discussions, he transgressed against Imam Ahmed Alhasan (a)-we seek Allah’s forgiveness, Glorious is He, and repent to Him. She now asks: Does she treat him as a Nasibi? Does she divorce him? This matter is of great concern to her.

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

Perhaps they provoked him, or he was in an angry state that Satan exploited and caused him to fall into this. A person is not judged to have erected hostility on the basis of a single act unless it is known that he did it intentionally and with deliberation. Indeed, even if he did it intentionally and with deliberation and is judged to be a Nasibi, you do not know-perhaps at a later time he will regret it and return to the truth, as happened with many whom Allah guided and who recognized the truth. In general, treat the people with mercy. May Allah set your affairs aright and, through you, guide His creation to His straight path.
