Question 24

After I took over the administration of a school, I witnessed religious and ethical violations by members of the teaching staff. I advised and admonished them until the matter reached the point of quarrelling, but the situation became worse and I became disliked by some of them, meaning the bad ones. I ask for your advice and the religious ruling regarding the offenders. Some teachers force students to take private lessons and promise that they will pass all subjects in return for large sums that may reach five hundred thousand dinars. There are also immoral relationships with students' mothers in return for ensuring their children's success.

Be mindful of God and openly command what is right and forbid what is wrong with everything God has given you, and God will support you if you are sincere to Him, Glorified is He. To my knowledge, your ministry is called the Ministry of Education and Teaching, so begin from the word 'education.' For example, arrange a religious and ethical address on Thursdays for students and teachers, and have some of these deviating people participate in it so that perhaps they may be guided. Assign them, assign others, and assign yourself, and invite some believing, religious guests to deliver the religious and ethical address on Thursday. Strive and act, and God, His Messenger, and the believers will see your work. Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction. Try to make everyone love you and accept your words. I ask God to grant you success and right guidance in every good, and I ask you, respected teacher, not to forget me in your prayers.
