Question 26
If the blessed Eid al-Ghadir falls on a Friday and the person performs the Eid prayer, does he then have a choice regarding attendance at the Friday prayer? In other words, does Eid al-Ghadir have the same ruling as Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr when they fall on Friday, as stated in The Laws of Islam: ‘If an Eid and Friday coincide, whoever attends the Eid has the choice whether to attend the Friday prayer, and the imam must inform them of this in his sermon’?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
If he performs the Eid prayer in congregation and with its valid conditions fulfilled, then he has the choice.
