Question 155
What is the ruling on the barley drink commonly consumed today in Muslim countries?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
If the barley is soaked and its liquid is extracted before it ferments, it is permissible to drink. If it is fermented, it is not permissible to drink. It is not judged permissible merely because it was produced in a Muslim country.
