Question 10
I vowed to walk from Najaf to Karbala on the Arba'in of Imam al-Husayn (a). If I am unable to go for a reason such as cooking food, what is the ruling?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
Cooking is not an excuse for failing to fulfill the vow. But if there is a valid reason for not fulfilling it, such as illness, then one may refrain from fulfilling the vow and is excused. God does not burden a soul beyond its capacity.
