Question 108
If cosmetic surgery is permissible, is it permissible only on parts of the body that may ordinarily be looked at, or is it permissible generally?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
If the cosmetic procedure is not necessary, the religious limits concerning looking and touching must be observed. If the procedure is necessary and no same-sex practitioner is available, looking and touching are permissible to the extent required by the necessity.
