Question 63
What is the ruling on smoking if a person does it only for amusement and is not a 'real smoker'?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
If there is a reasonable possibility that smoking will cause significant harm, it is not permissible for him to smoke. There is no such thing as merely smoking for amusement or being a 'real smoker.' Smoking is simply a bad habit that anyone who has become accustomed to it can quit; he only needs to struggle a little against himself and his desire.
