Question 176
Sometimes something happens in our work and we say, 'Allah willed it this way,' even though we ourselves did not prepare properly for what we were trying to do. Is it correct to attribute such an outcome to Allah's will?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
Whoever wants something prepares what it requires. Is it reasonable for a person who knows he will not wake for the dawn prayer unless he puts an alarm beside his head to leave the alarm unset, then miss the prayer and say, 'Allah wanted it this way'? Certainly not, my dear. Allah did not want it this way; you wanted it this way. I ask Allah to grant you the good of the Hereafter and this world.
