Question 94
In an earlier answer about abortion, Imam Ahmad al-Hassan said that if the fetus would cause harm that the parents cannot bear, it may be aborted. Does this include a situation in which the parents want to devote their attention to raising their existing children and believe they cannot have another child because the new child would obstruct their studies and normal life? Would this count as something the parents cannot bear?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
According to the situation described above, abortion is not permissible.
