When does seeking and observing the Ramadan crescent begin, and how long does it continue?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
Seeking and observing the crescent begins after noon on the 29th day of the preceding month—for Ramadan, that is Sha'ban—and continues until midnight. In practice, the crescent is normally seen after sunset and before the twilight disappears.
