Question 13

My honorable master, peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. We heard of your call at its very beginning and tried to see you and speak with you about it in holy Najaf, but we were not granted success in that, for a wisdom known to Allah. My master, Allah blessed us with knowledge of the Ahl al-Bayt (a) and with trying to attain their love by any way they approve. At the beginning of our affair, we imagined that the path of religious authority and ijtihad was the clear and correct path that would bring us near to them and win their love (a). But Allah blessed us and gave us insight into this path, the extent of its evil, and its conspiracy against them (a). We found ourselves moving farther from the path of truth the harder we strove to travel it-‘the greater their speed in traveling, the farther away they become.’ Praise be to Allah, who blessed us with this knowledge approximately five or six years ago. Since then we have been searching for what will gather our scattered state and reassemble the being that we shattered as an offering to Allah after finding it filled with idols and the paths of Satan. Praise and thanks be to Allah. My master, we followed your cause, examined nearly everything issued by you, prayed for you privately and publicly, and informed people about your affair and the truth you follow, relying on visions and indications with which Allah blessed us. My master, pardon me for going on at length, but I have matters to ask, and whether to answer them is up to you: 1. Are you among the inevitable matters, or not? 2. If you are among the inevitable matters, which personage do you represent? 3. Are you the first or the second of the personage? 4. My master, the hadiths state that the Commander of the Faithful, al-Husayn, and the rest of the Imams (a) will return to this world. Is the return in person or through a personage? If it is through a personage, which infallible one do you represent? Thank you for your kindness. Fahmi Salih 27 Rabi al-Awwal 1426 AH

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. (1), (2), (3), (4): I am the lowly, base, humbled servant, little in deeds and great in failings. I see myself as a grave sin before a Compassionate, Merciful Lord. My father and master, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Mahdi (a), commanded me to say these words: ‘I am a stone in the right hand of Ali ibn Abi Talib (a). One day he cast it to guide Noah’s ark (a), another time to save Abraham (a) from Nimrod’s fire, and another time to deliver Jonah (a) from the belly of the whale. With it he spoke to Moses (a) upon the Mount; he made it a staff that split the seas and armor for David (a); he wore it as armor at Uhud and folded it in his right hand at Siffin.’ Ahmed Alhasan
