Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah for His trial and His immense blessings. O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Answer to Question 1: Sayyid Ahmed Alhasan studied under Imam al-Mahdi (a). He has no connection to what the religious authorities studied or study. He transmits from Imam al-Mahdi (a), conveys on his behalf, and prepares the way for him (a). He is from Basra Province in Iraq. * * * Answer to Question 2: Sayyid Ahmed Alhasan is from the progeny of Imam al-Mahdi (a), not directly from his loins. The marriage and progeny of Imam al-Mahdi (a) were established in the book The Decisive Response to Those Who Deny the Progeny of the Qa’im. The word ‘son’ is sometimes used to mean an immediate son from one’s loins and is sometimes used to mean a son from one’s progeny. Al-Hasan, al-Husayn, and the remaining Imams (a) are described as sons of the Messenger of Allah (s), although they are not his immediate sons but are from his progeny through his own flesh, Fatima al-Zahra (a). Likewise, Imam al-Mahdi (a) is described in some reports as ‘the son of Fatima,’ although he is not her immediate son but is from her progeny. In Surat Yusuf, the Exalted related Jacob’s words (a) to his son Joseph: ‘Thus your Lord will choose you, teach you the interpretation of narratives, and perfect His blessing upon you and upon the family of Jacob, as He perfected it before upon your two fathers, Abraham and Isaac. Indeed, your Lord is Knowing, Wise’ ([70]). It is known that Allah’s prophet Abraham (a) was not Joseph’s immediate father (a), yet he was described as his father. Praise be to Allah alone. Nazim al-Uqayli The Supporters of Imam al-Mahdi (a)
