Question 85
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Peace, Allah’s mercy, and His blessings be upon you. We observe many things that have happened, will happen, and are being plotted against honorable Iraqis who believed in Allah’s Messenger Muhammad (s) and also believed in Allah’s guardian Ali (a). Therefore I ask: if a battle occurs between the accursed American occupation and the brothers affiliated with the Sadrist movement-or, let us say, the followers of Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr, or the Army of the Mahdi (a)-what is our duty regarding this situation? Do we remain silent, or support our brothers with money, weapons, and our lives? Many thanks to you. Sender: Husayn Madlul Utayb al-Tamimi
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. The disbelieving occupation forces must always, under every circumstance, and by every possible means be fought. The book Jihad, the Gate of Paradise contains details, and you can consult it ([153]).

↑ [153] Know that the first person to declare jihad against the American occupation was Sayyid Ahmed Alhasan, in a special declaration on the tenth of Muharram in the first year after the occupation forces entered Iraq. Because of this declaration, the Sayyid and his companions faced severe suffering at the hands of the occupation forces, their agents, and the evil scholars, to the point of imprisonment and torture. The un-Iraqi police handed those who distributed the declaration over to the occupation forces. But whoever is with Allah, Allah is with him: Allah delivered Sayyid Ahmed’s companions from the occupation’s grasp, while the agents and traitors incurred disgrace and shame in this world and the Hereafter. Those who wronged will know to what destination they will return. The outcome belongs to the mindful, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. (Commentator.)
