Question 84

Why is the Imamate more exalted than prophethood, or of a higher rank than it? Sender: Ibrahim Rughayl

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. The Imamate is authority over the higher and lower worlds by Allah’s permission, leadership of Allah’s soldiers in them, and disposal of their affairs by Allah’s permission. A human being cannot be an Imam without previously having the station of prophethood. Further detail can be found in the book The Seal of Prophethood, which will be published soon, Allah willing ([152]).
