Question 200
A woman entered into a temporary marriage and became pregnant by her husband. The husband died during the term of this marriage. What is the ruling concerning the wife and her rights? What is the ruling concerning the child born to them, and what are the child’s religious rights?
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. The details and conditions of temporary marriage will, Allah the Exalted willing, be found in The Laws of Islam, which is currently being printed and completed. As for the wife, she does not inherit from the husband in a temporary marriage. As for the child, the child is the husband’s legitimate child and has all religious rights, including inheritance, bearing the father’s name, and the other rights established for a legitimate child. Sayyid Ahmed Alhasan Vicegerent and Messenger of Imam al-Mahdi (a)
