Question 224

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. The question is: What are the properties of the name al-Batin, which is one of the names of Allah, the Exalted? I have heard that whoever repeats the name ‘O Batin’ a specified number of times learns what is in people’s inner thoughts. Are those assigned to this name angels or righteous jinn? What is the name of the one assigned to this name, if there is one assigned who serves whoever persists in repeating the name a specified number of times? It is said to be 62 times for forty days. Sender: Your servant Azzam al-Ubaydi - one who seeks victory through the Yamani

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. The believer should seek nothing through the remembrance of Allah, Glorious is He, other than Allah’s satisfaction. As for the names of Allah, Glorious and Exalted, they have an effect upon the human being because they are the innate nature upon which he was fashioned. That is, the human being is the foremost creature in relation to the names of Allah, Glorious and Exalted, and the manifestation of Allah’s greatest names in creation is a human being. As for the claim that whoever remembers this name a specified number of times learns what is in people’s inner thoughts: far be it from Allah, Glorious and Exalted, to violate His creation’s concealment and expose them, while He is the Concealer who hopes for their repentance. If you wish to be resurrected among those whom Allah has favored-the prophets, successors, and witnesses-then remember Allah sincerely in every circumstance without seeking or hoping for a wage or reward, whether in the Hereafter or in this world. If you wish to know some realities so that you may hasten your steps toward Him, Glorious and Exalted, then recite Surat al-Nur seventy consecutive times, stopping only for a necessity such as eating, drinking, or sleeping. After completing it, recite His words, the Exalted, ‘The Knowing, the Aware informed me’ ([31]), ten thousand times over three days or less. Then recite His words, the Exalted, ‘Enter it in peace, secure’ ([32]), also ten thousand times over three days or less. Ahmed Alhasan
