Question 223
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. Peace be upon the remnant of the family of Muhammad. Peace be upon my Imam, master, and guardian Ahmed Alhasan (a). My master, beloved of the heart: I wasted fifty years of my life in opposition to the family of Muhammad (a), until Allah honored me by affiliating me with its people through you. I previously complained to you of the heavy inheritance, and I wished to ask your permission for more. I will be brief, Allah willing, so as not to burden you. The peace of Allah be upon you. My family and I have settled in Canada, and my brother is with me in another nearby city. I live in an entirely Sunni environment, and I used to frequent their mosque before my Lord guided me through you, O Household-my Lord’s peace be upon you. I presented the matter of the call to my brother, and his response was not positive; that is another matter. Today, however, the complaint is within my own household. My wife performed the istikhara prayer that you bestowed upon us, and she saw visions that disturbed her. I tried to discuss the call with her but found no hearing. All of this was about a year ago, and since then I have not raised the matter with her because she is still not prepared to listen. The proof is that throughout the year she has never tried to raise the subject with me. Our relationship is cold, and we speak only when necessary. There is no quarrel between us, as though each of us has accepted the other’s religion and that we continue for the sake of our two little girls. At times I feel compassion for her, and at other times I cannot bear to look at her face when the cold situation or the disagreement provokes me. Among the disagreements are their call to prayer; my seven-year-old daughter does not perform ablution correctly, following her teacher’s way; and there is much more. She is my maternal cousin and has always been devoted to me and patient with me; she endured my nightmare-and by Allah it was a nightmare whose horror I have begun to discern and from which I am awakening very slowly. I hope Allah guides her and my younger brother. I therefore ask you to pray for both of them, and for kin whose fathers were not warned, so they are heedless. They are your kin, and you were sent to all people as a mercy to the worlds. The peace of Allah be upon you. My guardian, what should I do? Peace be upon the remnant of the family of Muhammad, and peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon the Proof of Allah, the remnant of Allah. Sender: al-Salmani al-Dharri
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. Patience is to faith as the head is to the body ([29]). So be beautifully patient, free of complaint to anyone other than Allah, and beseech Him, Glorious is He, to guide whomever He wills and facilitate your affairs toward the good of the Hereafter and this world. Know that you are charged with guiding your family; this is your duty toward them. Would you not rise to save them from the fire of this world if they fell into it, even though its punishment comes to an end and recovery from its pain is possible? Then what of the Fire of the Hereafter? You must not leave any path for saving them from the Fire of the Hereafter and guiding them to the truth without taking it. Look at your enemy and the enemy of the people of truth, the accursed Satan, Iblis-may Allah curse him-and what he says: ‘Then I will come upon them from before them and from behind them, from their right and from their left, and You will not find most of them grateful’ ([30]). Do you notice that he is not content with one path and direction for misleading people? If coming upon them from before them does not work, he does not leave them and go away. Rather, he comes upon them by another path and direction-from behind them. If that does not work, he comes upon them from their right, and if that does not work, he comes upon them from their left. For your Lord’s sake, take heed: this is our enemy and yours. He is fighting desperately and to the death to mislead people away from guidance, and he works by every path and direction to mislead them, night and day, secretly and openly. Are we, the people of truth who wish to guide people to the truth, not more entitled to this matter-to fight desperately and to the death to guide people and save them from Hell, which we see clearly settled at the end of the path of misguidance they are following? So let us make the correct decision: that we neither tire nor become weary, and that we leave no path for guiding people without taking it and no direction for guiding people without coming to them from it. I ask Allah to grant you success and soundness. Do not forget me-the sinner who has fallen short concerning your right-in your supplication. Ahmed Alhasan
