Question 226

Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad. My noble master, I received your answer to the questions I sent to Sayyid Ahmed Alhasan with great joy and longing, and I am grateful for your kindness to us in answering. Allah knows that we long for the noble appearance and that our hearts look toward the Imams of the family of Muhammad (a). My noble master, if Sayyid Ahmed the Yamani is the one who answered my questions-through which I seek only for my heart and the hearts of believing, loyal brothers who were fashioned upon love for Muhammad and the family of Muhammad to be reassured-then, if the answer is from the Yamani of the family of Muhammad, I did not expect any of the questions to be omitted, even if the answer were by indication. If we understand, it is an unveiling from Allah; if we do not understand, we ask Allah for guidance and forgiveness for our many sins. So I ask you, my noble master, to be gracious enough to answer, even by an indication, a lowly, sinful servant burdened by sins. My noble master, your noble answer was that the fast is completed until the completion of the night even if we see the crescent before sunset, and, by Allah’s permission, we will do so. My master, should we understand from it an indication of something, as we understood from you? My master, we hope that you accept what we request. Allah knows that we seek the truth. According to what we know about our purified Imams (a), they know the unseen; may I learn from you anything concerning me that will be clear to me? Finally, we hope for your kindness to us in letting us know who was the gate to the knowledge of Imam al-Hasan al-Askari (a) and Imam al-Mahdi (a), which is what you alluded to when saying that the question had not been answered. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. We ask Allah to grant us success upon His straight path, by the right of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis. Sender: Hadi

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

I have explained in more than one place in the books that Allah appointed Proofs between the people and the family of Muhammad, and they are the apparent towns in the Quran ([37]) and the gates to the Proofs (a). The fact that al-Miqdad was a disciple of the Messenger Muhammad and a proof on behalf of the Messenger Muhammad (s), and was among the apparent towns, does not prevent al-Miqdad from also being a proof on behalf of Ali (a) over the people. The same applies to Salman. That is, the fact that an individual from the nation is among the apparent towns with an Imam from the family of Muhammad (a) does not prevent him also being among the apparent towns with the Imam who succeeds him. Likewise, the fact that one individual from the nation is among the apparent towns with an Imam from the family of Muhammad (a) does not mean that he is the only one-although, yes, there is the best among them. Another can also succeed him when he dies. The first ambassador, as an example, was among the apparent towns with al-Hasan al-Askari and Muhammad al-Mahdi-may Allah’s prayers be upon both of them. Finally, my advice to you is to devote your effort and concern to the gate through which you are being tested today and about which you will be questioned tomorrow. Al-Sadiq (a) said: ‘The Yamani Corner is one of the gates of the Garden; Allah has not closed it since He opened it’ ([38]). And he (a) said: ‘The Yamani Corner is our gate through which we enter the Garden, and in it is a river from the Garden into which the servants’ deeds are cast’ ([39]). Ahmed Alhasan
