Question 230
Is it permissible to recite Surat al-Ikhlas in this way: ‘In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Say: He is’-pause, then complete the recitation-‘Allah, One; Allah, the Self-Sufficient; He neither begets nor is born, and there is none equal to Him’? This is because one of the supporter brothers objected to this recitation, saying: ‘I prayed behind the Sayyid for nearly two years, and he did not recite it by separating “Say: He is” from “Allah, One”; rather, he recited them joined together.’ I became afraid concerning the way I had recited it, so I wished first to ascertain the matter and, second, to ask whether recitation with the separation is permissible. Sender: Mr. Zaki
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and his family, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. It is permissible if, by separating, you do not intend to end the statement and begin a new statement. You must keep in mind that ‘Allah, One’ is a description of ‘He.’ Ahmed Alhasan
