Question 257

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon the remnant of the family of Muhammad. I ask Allah that my master and guardian and the good family are well and in good health. I have some matters: First: There are some video clips I watch on the Internet. The speakers-around four or more-discuss the human self and how to rid it of negative things by returning to the self’s origin. Most of these people stop at the boundary of the human self as the origin and do not proceed to the Creator, Glorious is He. For them, or for those who listen to them, the matter is not religious. The discussion changes only when it reaches the final point and nothing remains but to acknowledge the One who originated and fashioned; there they stop at contrivance. Is it permissible for one who declares Allah’s oneness to listen on the grounds of gathering wisdom and because he acknowledges the One who created, Glorious is He, or does he-that is, I-sin? Second: My wife saw the following vision, according to her account. She was sleeping in the house’s sitting room when a large, beautiful cat entered the house. She rose, saying, ‘How did it enter my house when it is locked?’ The cat went toward the window facing the house door, then began calling out ‘the Prophet al-Khidr,’ while my wife responded, ‘May prayers and peace be upon him.’ This continued for some time before she opened the door for it to leave, with the cat speaking and her responding. Third: Where is the grave of Lady Zaynab-may my Lord’s prayers be upon her? Did the noble lady (a) ever go to Egypt? Is any part of Imam al-Husayn’s pure body (a) in Egypt? Fourth: A narration from Anas, from the Prophet (s): ‘Make your deeds sincere and strengthen Islam.’ They said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, how do we strengthen Islam?’ He said, ‘By attending the scholars to learn knowledge through responding to the people of desires. Whoever responds to them seeking thereby Allah’s countenance receives the worship of the two weighty kinds, the jinn and humankind. Whoever responds to them seeking thereby Allah’s countenance receives the worship of the people of Mecca since it was created.’ It was said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, is the one who shows off rewarded for his knowledge?’ He said, ‘Allah has decreed upon Himself that whoever strengthens Islam and seeks thereby Allah’s countenance receives the worship of the people of Mecca since it was created; and even if he did not intend it, the Fire has been forbidden from his face.’ What does the narration mean? Peace be upon the remnant of the family of Muhammad (a). Convey my greetings to the good and patient one, the remnant of Allah and His Proof-may my Lord’s prayers be upon him. Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. Hearing does no harm; you may hear the arguments of Jews, Christians, and atheists in order to respond to them. But if you mean believing and affirming what these people say about the self, this is incorrect. If they are correct in diagnosing one matter, they err in another. What is correct is to know the self from the Creator of the self, Glorious is He, and the path of knowledge is His books and His messengers, Glorious and Exalted. As for the shrine of Lady Zaynab daughter of Ali (a), it is in the Levant. Al-Husayn’s shrine is in Karbala, and nothing from al-Husayn’s body (a) is in the shrine in Egypt. But whoever visits this shrine in Egypt has a wage and reward because it revives the cause of al-Husayn (a). Ahmed Alhasan
