Question 266
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Please inform me: ten years ago I had a tattoo placed on my left arm, extending from the shoulder to the arm. I am now 31 years old and want to know the ruling concerning prayer with this tattoo, since removing it requires surgery. Is it necessary to remove it, or what should I do? Please inform me; may Allah reward you with good. Sender: Imad Yusuf al-Hamid - Saudi Arabia
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and his family, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. It is not necessary for you to remove it now, and its presence upon your arm does not harm the prayer. Ahmed Alhasan
