Question 330
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and prayers be upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon the men of guidance. In the name of a small number of Supporters, we ask about a matter that reached us from some brothers: that charity is obligatory upon everyone without exception. Among us are those who do not find their daily sustenance and others to whom people give charity. What is the ruling concerning charity for people such as these? We are under your responsibility awaiting the response-a small number of the Supporters of Allah. Sender: Moses - Iraq
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. May Allah grant you success in every good. What is obligatory is khums and zakat; charity is recommended. As for one who is in material need and does not find his daily sustenance, he has a right in the public treasury. I ask those responsible for the public treasury to deliver the poor their rights, and Allah willing, they are worthy of doing so. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
