Question 339
Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. I would like to ask: Is masturbation prohibited without inserting a solid object-I mean only externally-even if the intention is to avoid falling into what is prohibited? Is ritual washing required afterward? My regards. Sender: ....
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. Masturbation is religiously prohibited. If you wish to compare it with committing the indecency of fornication-Allah forbid-then fornication is more severely prohibited because it is among the major sins. Masturbation does not become permissible when a person does it while thinking that by this he intends to keep away from fornication. The ritual washing for sexual impurity is obligatory for one who ejaculates (semen comes out from him with emission and desire). Likewise, washing is obligatory for a woman if she ejaculates, as I mentioned in The Laws. I ask Allah to guard your private parts and purify your souls through lawful marriage, which safeguards your religion. Ahmed Alhasan Shaban of goodness / 1430 AH
