Question 400
I am bewildered, so guide me-may Allah guide you-and remember me before our Master. Ever since I became Shia, disasters have been raining down upon my life, and now I feel I have lost what I had been holding on to, namely the religious authority. But the Yamani is of course more important, although many banners make that claim. Sender: Abd al-Mukhlis - Egypt
Supporters Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send His prayers upon Muhammad and his family, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. From Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajjaj, who said: Affliction and that with which Allah (a) singles out the believer were mentioned before Abu Abdullah (a), so he said: ‘The Messenger of Allah (s) was asked: Which people suffer the severest affliction in this world? He said: The prophets, then those most like them, then those most like them. The believer is then afflicted according to the measure of his faith and the goodness of his deeds. One whose faith is sound and whose deeds are good suffers severe affliction, while one whose faith is feeble and whose deeds are weak suffers little affliction’ ([198]). From Abu Abdullah (a), who said: ‘Allah (a) has servants upon the earth among His sincere servants. No gift descends from heaven to earth but that He turns it away from them toward others, and no affliction descends but that He turns it toward them’ ([199]). That concerns affliction, dear brother. As for the religious authority, know that there is no necessary connection between it and the path of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad (a). None represents the way of the Ahl al-Bayt (a) except they, the purified and infallible ones, and those who follow their way without deviating from it. Know that among the scholars are devout scholars who act, and among them are dissolute, opulent scholars who do not act. Who other than the scholars fought Moses (a)? Who other than the scholars fought Jesus? And so forth. The narrations have been mass-transmitted that the jurists of the end times are traitors and the worst jurists beneath the shade of the sky. You are surely aware of the position of the jurists of Najaf, their accommodation of the American project, their stand against those striving against the occupation, their legislation of American positive law, and many other deviations from the Quran and the progeny-the two weighty things that the Messenger Muhammad (s) enjoined us to hold fast to so as to ensure salvation. Know that the jurists are charged with duties and tested by Imam al-Mahdi (a) and whomever he sends. They may succeed in the test and they may fail. Indeed, the narrations state and indicate that all or most of them will fight Imam al-Mahdi (a), just as the jurists of the Children of Israel fought the messengers (a). You also surely know that Imam al-Husayn (a) was killed by the ruling of Shurayh the judge, who had been the judge of Kufa during the time of Imam Ali (a). I therefore advise you to investigate the proofs of the blessed Yamani call and save yourself. One who goes astray cannot harm you if you are guided. I ask you to examine the books of Sayyed Ahmed Alhasan and the publications of the Supporters of Imam al-Mahdi (a), which explain and clarify the proofs of the blessed call. They may exceed seventy books ([200]), and you will find them on the website of the Supporters of Imam al-Mahdi (a), www.mahdyoon.org. They include, for example, The Clear Proclamation, The Promised Yamani, The Will and the Successor Ahmed Alhasan, and many others. If you have any question or objection, we are at your service. Finally, I ask Allah to guide you by the right of Muhammad and his pure family (a).
