Question 418

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. May Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. Peace be upon you, my master, O Yamani of the family of Muhammad, and upon my brothers, the supporters of Allah, and the mercy and blessings of Allah. And thereafter: It is narrated from the Commander of the Believers (a) concerning interpretation of the Noble Quran: ‘The Quran is in Surat al-Fatihah, al-Fatihah is in the basmalah, the basmalah is in the letter ba, and the ba is in the dot.’ Given that dots were placed upon the letters during the Umayyad state, how did the people to whom the Commander of the Believers explained this understand the meaning of the dot? Sender: al-Shammari - United Arab Emirates

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. The dot is the origin from which the letters are formed-may Allah grant you success-not merely the dots placed above and below the letters. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
