Question 428

Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you, and prayers and peace be upon our master Muhammad and his good and pure family. I have a problem with my family. A person proposed to marry me in accordance with the practice of Allah and His Messenger, but he is not of the Jafari school; he is Sunni. My family rejected him for this reason, but my heart is at ease with this person. Moreover, he is loyal to the household of the Messenger of Allah, and he and his family do not distinguish between the Shia and Sunni schools. Are my parents right and am I the one following my emotions, or should they consider this matter so that, by Allah’s permission, he may be my destined husband? I hope my message will be answered as quickly as possible. Many thanks to you. Sender: Some One - United Arab Emirates

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis. In the matter of marriage, it is better for you to follow your father’s opinion. May Allah grant you success in every good. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Ahmed Alhasan Dhu al-Hijjah 1430 AH
