Question 463
Must the pledge of allegiance be public, or can it be in the heart only, under dissimulation? My circumstances where I am do not permit me to announce my pledge. I have a family whom I support, including three young daughters. What should I do? O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. Thank you. Sender: Basim - Egypt
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. If your circumstances do not permit you to announce it, you may conceal your faith. If you find someone in whom you perceive goodness, you may convey the message to him or even direct him to read and listen through the available means. May Allah grant you success in every good, direct you, and make your steps firm upon the truth. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Ahmed Alhasan Rabi al-Awwal 1431 AH
