Question 475

May the peace, mercy, and blessings of the Originator be upon you. I would like to know your interpretation of a dream I had not long ago. I dreamed that I was in Karbala, between the two shrines as I recall-although in reality I have never gone to holy Karbala in my life-and I was looking at and taking pictures of the sky. It was night, and there were dense white clouds. Between them I could see the words, ‘O Master of the Age, reach me,’ written upon them. I repeatedly looked at them. I think two girls whom I did not know were standing near me. They asked me whether they were in the pictures I had taken. It was as though they were telling me they did not want to be in the picture, or something like that. I tried to review the pictures I had taken and explained that I had been photographing the sky and had not taken pictures of them. I was uncertain whether the camera had accidentally captured pictures of them. Suddenly, it was time for the sunset and evening prayers. The attendants were trying to close the shrine doors, which were white. The door was about to close upon me so that I could not remain in the shrine. People were leaving the shrine as though they did not want to pray there. Only a very small number remained. The door was about to close, and I said to the attendant, ‘Can I enter and pray in the shrine?’ I had not yet visited the Imam. He allowed me to enter, and it was as though the door closed behind me. When I entered, I yearned to perform the visitation. With longing and full attention, I reached the sacred thresholds of the shrine. I made a quick prostration upon the threshold because I feared the men would see me prostrating, which is not permissible. I removed my sandals, took them with me, and entered the sanctuary. I think I asked where the women’s section was. I entered, and the shrine was empty, with very few people within it. I entered the shrine and was about to break down, weeping and crying out over the tragedy of Imam al-Husayn (a). I could not believe that I had reached al-Husayn and entered his noble shrine. I think the atmosphere was red. I think I entered the room of the place of slaughter, whose walls were red. I think I then turned to supplication. On the second day-in the dream-the shrine was crowded. I entered it with a friend from the days of Hajj named Dua. I think another woman was also with us, perhaps my mother; I do not remember. We entered and were ascending the stairs within the shrine. I was carrying two glass cups, and the girl Dua was carrying two as well. One of my two cups fell from me and broke upon the steps of the shrine. I bent down upon the steps to gather the scattered glass so that, I think, it would not injure the feet of those passing. I heard the voice of another woman who had been with me during the days of Hajj, named Umm Murtada, reciting a lamentation about Fatimah al-Zahra-peace be upon her-mourning Imam al-Husayn, may my soul be his ransom, within the noble shrine. Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. Imam al-Husayn (a) represents al-Husayn in this age. The people’s leaving the shrine despite having been within it means their disbelief in him and departure from allegiance, although previously-before they were tested-they had outwardly been upon allegiance. Your entering the shrine before the doors closed means that, Allah willing, you will believe in the caller to truth and al-Husayn of this age. I ask Allah for the good of the Hereafter and this world for you and that your vision be true. He is my Guardian, and He takes charge of the righteous. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Ahmed Alhasan Dhu al-Qidah 1431 AH
