Question 509

Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Kind greetings, and may Allah prolong your life, Allah willing. I would like to present my problem: every person with whom I discuss the Call brings me to the question, ‘Why did the Imam not appear himself? Why did he send you to us?’ Another question: why is it wrong for us to elect a president of the Iraqi state? Should we leave Iraq like this without a president? I do not know the answer to these two questions and cannot convince them. I hope you will answer my questions, and I would be very grateful. Sender: Rawiya al-Ma‘muri - Iraq

Supporters Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send abundant prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Regarding the first question: there is no doubt that it conceals rebellion against the truth on the part of the questioner. The present reality is that Imam al-Mahdi (a) sent Sayyed Ahmed Alhasan, so the questioner should seek the evidence for this external reality that has occurred. As for asking why the Imam did not appear himself and sent his son, it is enough for us to know that the Imam (a) is wise and knowledgeable and that what he does is precisely right. Then what if this is the will of Allah, Exalted is He-do we object to Allah? We must discuss reality and ascertain that it is a reality and the truth. But to posit a reality of our own making, and consequently ask why this reality that we ourselves posited did not occur, I consider nothing but one of Satan’s enticements to turn people away from the truth. As for the second question: everyone knows that the proof of Allah, Exalted is He, existed before the occupation forces entered, and the jurists of Najaf and others know this. How fitting it would have been for them to rally around him if they were believers. Furthermore, election itself-the people’s choosing the ruler-is religiously invalid. From this it is known that Sayyed Ahmed Alhasan and the blessed Call are not the ones who said that the people’s choice of the ruler is invalid; rather, Allah, Exalted is He, said this. Is Allah more knowing and wise, or are the people? The most important and precious thing in this life is religion, as the believers know, and religion is complete, with no deficiency in it. Is it then right for us to invoke flimsy pretexts such as, ‘We cannot leave our country without a ruler,’ and thereby disavow the teachings of our religion? Glory be to Allah! Allah tested them after the fall of Saddam’s dictatorship: would they hasten to follow their desires and inclinations and choose a ruler for themselves, or would they hold fast to the proof of Allah and accept nothing but his rule and the rule of the one he sent? They failed miserably. Their statement, ‘Should we leave Iraq without a ruler?’ is nothing but their persistence in falsehood and their deceiving their followers. Finally, by what knowledge will this president or ruler whom they choose rule them? Will he implement the teachings of Islam among them? How could he, when no one implements Islam except the proof of Allah upon His earth? Consequently, the ruler they choose will be nothing but another version of the tyrants, and the result will be loss in this world and the Hereafter. Here is the result before us: what have they reaped from their choice other than manifest loss? The Scientific Committee Supporters of Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah establish him upon the earth) Mr. Abu Muhammad al-Ansari Sha‘ban 1431 AH
