In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. Prayers and peace be upon Muhammad and his family, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them abundant peace. Glory be to Allah. How fitting it would have been for you, while you are sensitive to the strife of which you speak, to ascertain its causes. How fitting it would have been for you to turn your thinking in the right direction and tell yourself that none will deliver the Shia from this strife except the Qa’im of the family of Muhammad (a), and then hasten to investigate and verify the proofs of this blessed Call, for all relief lies within it. Read this excerpt from the letter addressed by Imam al-Mahdi (a) to Sheikh al-Mufid: ‘… We are not neglectful of caring for you, nor forgetful of remembering you. Were it not for that, hardship would descend upon you and the enemies would eradicate you …’ This passage from the noble letter states clearly that Imam al-Mahdi’s (a) care and his continual remembrance of his Shia are the cause of hardship not descending and the enemies being unable to inflict harm upon them-‘the enemies would eradicate you.’ Now the Shia, as you acknowledge, are being eradicated by the enemies. Hardship descends upon them, their blood is shed, and their sanctities are plundered at the hands of the Americans and the Umayyad bands. Is there not in this evidence that Imam al-Mahdi (a) no longer cares for them and no longer regards them as his Shia? Yes, for, regrettably, they have disavowed the principle of Allah’s sovereignty and the divine appointment of the ruler and have entered America’s democracy-the principle of the people appointing the ruler. Glory be to Allah. Are we the ones who add to the numbers of those you described, or is it others who followed their path? Do we seek anything other than your salvation and call you to rally around your Imam? My brother, search for the truth and contemplate the proofs of this blessed Call, so that, by Allah’s permission, you may be saved in this world and the Hereafter.
