Question 538
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful ... and prayers and peace be upon our master Muhammad and upon his good and pure family. To proceed ... Sayyid Imam Ahmed Alhasan al-Yamani, I have some questions and ask you to answer them. First: If you please, I want a clear explanation of who our master Muhammad (s), Imam Ali (a), and our master Salman al-Farsi are in heaven and on earth, what their true relationship is to Allah, the Exalted, and whether they died, disappeared, or something else. Second: Who is Lady Fatima al-Zahra in reality, what is the secret of her lofty station, what is the secret entrusted within her, and what is her relationship to Lady Mary the Virgin, if any? Third: Who, in reality, are the following masters: al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad, Abu Dharr al-Ghifari, Abd al-Rahman ibn Rawaha, Uthman ibn Mazun, and Qanbar ibn Kadan, who, as you know, are the companions of Imam Ali (a)? There is another question, my master, that greatly interests me: Is the Sayyid Messiah greater and nearer to Allah than our master al-Husayn, such that Allah saved him from crucifixion but left al-Husayn (a) to be tortured and killed in the manner conveyed by the accounts? In particular, I heard a saying of Imam Ali (a): ‘I and the guides from my Household are Allah’s hidden secret and His near friends. We are all one, so do not differentiate among us lest you perish. We are the signs, the veils, and the face of Allah’ ([72]). What is the secret of the answer, if you please? Fourth: If the Prophet and the Imams-may my soul be their ransom-are the face of Allah, as has been narrated from Imam Ali (a), meaning that they are His manifest side and His light upon the earth, and people saw them, then why did our master Moses fall unconscious when he said, ‘My Lord, show me Your face’? Finally, what is Allah’s true inward reality if the Prophet and the Imams (peace be upon them) are His outward reality? I apologize, my master, for going on at length, but these questions perplex me greatly, and I will find no one more able and capable than you to answer them clearly, since, as you have said, you are Allah’s vicegerent upon the earth and know the paths of heaven and earth ... I ask Allah that my guidance be at your hands and that I be among your sincere followers if you are the truth from Allah. Thank you, and peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful ... Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. May Allah grant you success in every good and make your steps firm in knowing the truth and following it. I ask you to read the books I have written in order to know the truth and to learn the answer to some of what you asked. After you read carefully and reflectively, you can ask, and I will be at your service to answer any question, Allah willing. Some of your questions are not proper to ask, such as your statement that Allah has an inward reality. Exalted is Allah, far above having an inward or outward reality. Rather, He, Glorious is He, is the Manifest, the Hidden, the First, and the Last. He has manifested Himself within creation, and creation subsists through Him, Glorious is He. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Ahmed Alhasan
