Question 542

Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you ... I have reviewed the jurisprudential questions, including those about temporary marriage, but there is no sufficient information about it. Must it be through a marriage contract, meaning that two witnesses sign the contract, or can it be verbal? Is it valid over the internet? Is it valid with a condition of no intercourse? I hope for a response as soon as possible, because I am married in another way: it is only between the two persons, and Allah is the witness to the marriage. There were not two witnesses, and I have not touched the girl improperly because she is a virgin. May Allah have mercy upon us through His mercy. Sender: S. Y. - Kuwait

Ahmed al-Hasan Response:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. May Allah grant you success. A detailed account is found in the Book of Marriage in The Laws of Islam, which your brothers, the Supporters-may Allah grant them success-will publish on the internet. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Ahmed Alhasan Rajab al-Asabb / 1431 AH
