Question 543
Peace be upon you ... I ask that this message be conveyed to Ahmed Alhasan. My questions: 1. What is the treatment for doubt and weak certainty, even when evidence is available regarding the matter of allegiance, or, more broadly, regarding following the correct path? The entire matter is based upon supposition, so how is certainty attained? 2. What is the ruling concerning a girl whose father does not pay khums, while she does not work and her father pays her expenses, but she has many belongings, some of which were used and then left, while others were never used? Is khums waived for her? 3. Is maintaining ties of kinship waived if doing so poses a danger, such that if the daughter maintains ties with her father’s relatives, the mother becomes extremely angry because she does not approve, and the problems escalate and affect the ill father, perhaps endangering his life because he cannot endure shouting and problems? 4. Do you issue religious rulings through your own juristic reasoning, or according to the opinion of Imam al-Mahdi? 5. In The Debate between Christianity and Ahmed Alhasan, I read from Imam Abu Jafar that for every century of this nation there is a messenger from the family of Muhammad who comes forth to the century to which he is a messenger. Were there messengers in all the centuries that passed after the beginning of the Major Occultation of the Riser? Sender: Zahra - Saudi Arabia
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. A to Q1: Certainty is attained through sincerity to Allah, Glorious and Exalted is He. The servant thereby comes to know the truth and the straight path from Allah, who has offered Himself as a witness to anyone who seeks His testimony, Glorious and Exalted is He: ‘Say, “Allah is sufficient as a witness between me and you. Indeed, He is All-Aware and All-Seeing of His servants”’ ([73]). A to Q2: In a case such as this, she should set a specific day each year on which she takes account of herself. Whatever gains remain with her on that day, she pays khums on them. For example, if she has money on that day, she pays its khums, and if she has an unused item, she also pays its khums. A to Q3: Dutifulness to one’s parents is obligatory and is not waived, and it is fulfilled to the extent possible. One must provide for one’s wife, children, and parents. As for maintaining ties with the rest of one’s relatives, whether through money or words, it is recommended and not obligatory. A to Q4: We, the family of Muhammad, do not exercise juristic reasoning in matters of religion-may Allah grant you success. Rather, it is knowledge that Allah has bestowed upon us and by which He has made us independent of the rest of His creation. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
