Question 550

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and his family, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. We are a group of women who believe in Sayyid Ahmed (a), but our husbands have not yet believed. It is difficult for us to go and verify the slaughter, so we have begun seeking guidance from Allah concerning meat and chicken before eating it. Is it permissible for us to do that? Is it permissible to inform the other male Supporters about this method-seeking guidance from Allah concerning the meat-when they have a greater opportunity than we do to verify it? I mean, is it permissible to adopt this as a general rule even when we have ample opportunity and there is no hardship? Sender: Z. Kh. - Emirates

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. May Allah grant you success. With respect to chicken, one must be confident that it was slaughtered by the hand of a Muslim, because they have permitted slaughter by machine, which is not lawful. As for red meat, meat slaughtered in Islamic countries may be eaten, and there is no problem with it. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Ahmed Alhasan Rajab al-Asabb / 1431 AH
