I send my greetings to Imam al-Hujjah ibn al-Hasan al-Mahdi (a) and to his son, Imam Ahmed Alhasan (a). Peace be upon you. To proceed ... There is a doubt concerning the land on which we live, but we did not know this until we sought to obtain a title deed for the house from the land-registration office. They informed us that the land was registered in that office in another person’s name, which would make our house and our neighbor’s house a single plot of land. They told us that the Ministry of Housing had made an error, that they would assume responsibility for the error, and that they would issue the deed. We had not known that the land was registered in anyone’s name; moreover, it was not documented, no one told us this, and we built upon it and live there. What is the ruling?
