Question 579
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful ... O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. Peace be upon you, O Riser of the family of Muhammad. My question is: Why does a person begin yawning and his eyes begin watering when he performs glorifications, remembrances, or asks forgiveness-especially when asking forgiveness? Also, why do our eyes fill with tears when we hear you mentioned or when we become humble? Sender: Ahlam - Australia
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful ... Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. May Allah grant you success. As for yawning, it is from the darkness within a person, or from Satan and the evil upon the page of the person’s existence. When darkness is surrounded by light, the devils of humankind and the jinn resort, through the darkness upon the page of the person’s existence, to discouraging him from remembering Allah. They do this by affecting him and his body with yawning, laziness, and other attributes that cause him to resort to rest and abandon the remembrance of Allah. To be rid of these things, you must persist in remembrance and not abandon the light and remembrance until the devils despair-may Allah disgrace them. You receive a reward for this matter, for it is warfare against the devils and the soldiers of Iblis-may Allah disgrace them. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
