In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis, and grant them peace. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. ‘O our father, seek forgiveness for our sins; indeed, we were at fault.’ My master and guardian, you are the father of this nation and our father. By Allah, how excellent a father, and how wretched the children we are! We fail in your right, forsake you, are negligent in supporting you, and are seized by the ego that scarcely leaves us. My master and guardian, O my Imam, seek forgiveness for my immense sin. I adjure you by Allah, my Imam and master: I produced designs for a candidate in the Consultative Council election and received payment for them. Candidates here do not stand for election to govern; rather, they stand and are elected to take an advisory or proposal-making position whose authority is only to advise or propose in the National Council. Half of the council consists of those nominated by the people, and the government selects the other half. At the time, I was ignorant that any work strengthening the rule of falsehood was blameworthy. I received payment for this work, and now have approximately four thousand dirhams. I am saving it to use for the expenses of my graduation project, which requires a great deal. Seven months have now passed since I received it. If I need to use it, that will be during the next two months, because that will be the time of my graduation. The question is: What is the ruling concerning this money? What do I do with it? Do I donate all of it? Do I pay khums on it? Perhaps I can donate it to the satellite channel, for example; I do not know. I seek refuge with you, through whom Allah has bestowed favor upon us. My Imam and master, forgive me for my sin and constant shortcomings, for with every sin and every shortcoming I delay the relief. I ask Allah to forgive my sin and shortcomings, O Lord of the worlds, O Accepter of repentance, O Merciful, O Forgiving, O Generous. Sender: Mustajir - United Arab Emirates
