Question 746
Which is better: that I perform an aqiqah among our Shia brothers, or send it to the supporters in Egypt so that they perform the aqiqah and celebrate it? Can the aqiqah money be given with the intention of assisting our brother supporters in Egypt? Sender: Your weak servant Muntazar - Malaysia
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
The aqiqah is not replaced by paying money as assistance. You may send it to your brother supporters in Egypt so that they slaughter an aqiqah on your behalf. You may also slaughter the aqiqah yourself in the country where you live and feed it to the believers there. May Allah grant you success and direct your steps aright. Ahmed Alhasan
