Question 749
Regarding an egg containing blood, which the Sayyid (a) said is impure and therefore may not be eaten: those who are not supporters do not accept this. May we give it to someone who is not a supporter to eat? Sender: Huda - Iraq
Ahmed al-Hasan Response:
The blood of creatures with gushing blood is impure. Thus, the blood present in an egg is either from the animal that produced the egg or from the growth of an embryo in the egg. In both cases, it is not permissible to eat this blood because it is impure. If it is so little that it can be removed without spreading to the remaining parts, it is permissible to eat the rest of the egg, although it is better for you to avoid it. As for a person who is not a believer and wants to eat the impure blood present in the egg, that is his affair, and you may give him this egg to eat, although it is also better for you not to do so, because eating impurity or what is forbidden may cause him to be turned away from recognizing the truth.
